This event saw some brackets being switched around with Super Gas being dropped for an eighth-mile Pro Radial eliminator. This was a three-round Chicago shootout format with the two best – Perry Bullivant’s Holden Camaro facing Stuart Henry’s Ford Capri. Bullivant recorded his best reaction of the day (a .173 - really) to lead off Stuart Henry (back on a .197). At the other end the Camaro had too much for the flame spitting Ford with a 4.495/173.34 out running a second best 5.116.

It seems two things are very important for any Australian male – their beer and getting anywhere quickly thus the lawn mower-powered cooler was born. Here Larry Dixon (near to camera) takes on Australian IHRA boss, Maurice Allen. In a race, while Allen took a two length holeshot, by the finish-line Dixon just pipped him for the win.
