Paul Mouhayet top qualified in Outlaw Extreme with his Alan Johnson-powered 2004 Mustang with a 6.24. Mouhayet did double duty also competing in Outlaw 10.5. Despite breaking in the first round of 10.5, he was to face Nathan Hagenson in the final where his 6.352 was more than enough to turn back a 6.836.

The 2JZ-powered Toyota Camry of Nathan Hagenson was the top qualifier in the eight car Pro 10.5 field with a 6.824. He faced Mouhayet for the gold in the final but a .254 reaction time didn’t help his cause. When you add that to a second best 6.836, Mouhayet’s 6.352 was untroubled.

It might be hard to believe but Steve Bezzina‘s XW Ford Falcon, with standard suspension and leaf spring rear end running on 275 radial tires, was to run over 200 mph. This saw the Victorian racer run personal bests of 7.28 at 203 mph.

Perry Bullivant’s Snickers-sponsored 440 Chev-powered Camaro qualified second with a 6.679 but really was the class of the ten-car field. In the end he actually soloed to a 6.795/212.33 win when opponent, Dom Luppino was shut down with liquid pouring out from under the car.

Dom Luppino was the top qualifier in his sweet as a nut Dandy Race Engines prepared Ford Mustang. After a round one 6.73 win came a 6.62 to put him in the final as he recalls. “On the start line I was ready to take on our rival Perry Bullivant, but the officials found a very minor leak at the rear of the car and stopped us from running - heartbreak, anger, disappointment -we couldn't believe it. Unfortunately for us that handed the round win to Perry and also assured him of his championship. Back in the pits we fixed the leak within a few minutes but we wanted to take the car for another run and blow off some steam, it worked out perfectly belting out a PB of 6.60 at 230mph!” He added, “This proved the car is only going to get faster.”
