The bright yellow 632 cube big block Chev-powered Torana of David Hellyer was to totally dominate the APSA Aspirated bracket. This saw him top qualify with a 7.606 and take the most wins out of this combined bracket to win overall.

The 582 cube big block Chev-powered X275 Torana of Michael Voase qualified second to Paul Spatino’s 8.787 in a similar mount with a 9.169 but it turned both went the distance in eliminations to make the final. The race was decided on the line with Spatino giving up almost a tenth in chasing Voase on an 8.50 index. As they neared the finish line the latter was able to go nearer to his dial-in with an 8.702 out doing an 8.809 for the gold.

An icon of APSA competition is Johnny Habib in his tough blue 632 bug block Chev-powered Modified Street Blown Holden Torana. Habib has been campaigning it for ten years and was to have a great final when he took out the similar car of Joeseph Trovato – with a 0.70 lit 7.749 to a narcoleptic .825 bulbed 8.638. ”This car has been one of the most consistently campaigned Pro Streeters and hasn't stopped racing over the past 10 years,” Habib said on his Facebook page after the race. “Racing is not only about going fast but how much you are out there and competing”, he went on to say.
