Lights Out 7 at South Georgia Motorsports Park

Keith Berry, Radial versus the World winner.

Donald Long’s annual February Lights Out race for small tire doorslammer racers at SGMP is one of just a few “must attend” events for racers and fans of this branch of drag racing. This year’s six-day marathon attracted more than 445 race teams and a record number of spectators to Cecil, Ga., on the weekend. More than 300 cars and drivers were entered in classes reserved for heads-up racing only.

In the race for the $50,000 it was an all Georgia affair that saw Gainesville, GA, racer Keith Berry took home the title and the $50,000+ winners purse by strapping a holeshot on small tire racing super star, Stevie “Fast” Jackson.

Other winners included Ron Rhodes in the X275 class, Barry Mitchell in the Pro 275 class, and Ohio-based Darren Hilterbran in the Nitrous X class.
