The final round in RVW went off late Sunday night and it lived up to the pre-race hype. “Stevie Fast” Jackson, a superstar of the class, qualified fourth then waded through the field to meet former record holder and number 27 qualifier Keith Berry for the $54,000+ winner’s share.
With cool air and a premium traction surface Jackson tuned up his supercharged ‘93 Mustang before the final and was rewarded with his car’s best ET of the meet, a 3.896/194.80.
Keith Berry also recorded his his only 3-second pass of the event in the final round, a stellar 3.934 at 193.69 mph that got him the win. Berry's ET was .038 slower than Jackson's but his reaction time was .040 quicker and that .002 holeshot got the car and driver across the win stripe about 7 inches in front of Jackson. Barry took home the trophy, bragging rights and more than $54,000 for the win -- not a bad payday for a number 26 qualifier.
