Nitro Harley/Pro Stock/Pro Mod Qualifying

John Konigshofer

There were nine IHRA Mountain-motored Pro Stockers going for the eight available spots at San Antonio. Canadian Pro Stock racer John Konigshofer dominated the qualifying. He opened with a career best Elapsed Time of 6.225 at 225.34 mph to be the number one qualifier in one round. He was followed by Aruba racer Trevor Eman, who delivered a 6.230/224.22, and Cary Goforth rounded out the top three with a respectable 6.322/202.25.

The second round of qualifying saw not one of the top three qualifiers improve and the field was set.

Tracy Kile

In the first round of Nitro Harley Top Fuel action Tracy Kile went straight down the track recording a solid 6.549/218.66 for the top spot in round 1. No one else came close to that number that round as bike after bike made too much power for the track, shook the tire, and clicked off.

A few riders and tuners made improved runs in the second round. Tii Tharpe drove into the number two spot with a 6.666 ET but unwound the throttle early as he only went 171+. At the end of the qualifying for the Nitro Harleys every bike that made the top half of the field made 6-second qualifying passes.
