Eliminations

Shawn Bowen

Jason Rupert

Two-time and defending IHRA Nitro Funny Car World Champion Jason Rupert met three time DRO Funny Car Series National Champ Bowen in a great final and Rupert demonstrated why he has dominated the IHRA Funny Car class. He overcame a more than half-tenth holeshot and ran down the Michigan-based team with a 255+ mph top end charge to get his first win of the 2016 season but the Bowens left the race with the points lead.

Four-time Nitro Motorcycle World Champion Jay Turner raced to his first win of the 2016 season at San Antonio. Turner, a four-time IHRA Nitro Motorcycle World Champion, was the No. 7 qualifier; he upset No. 2 qualifier Tii Tharpe, and outran Randal Andras in the semifinals.

In the final round, Turner defeated number 8 qualifier Rickey House to take home the Ironman with a 6.467/220 to House’s 6.483/203.9.

The Pro Stock final was truly an international affair with a team from Canada facing a team from the Caribbean island of Aruba. In the end it was the driver who won this race. Konigshofer left a couple hundredths before his opponent and made his 6.255/224 stand against the quicker 6.240/223.10 at the finish line.

And finally series regular Billy Harper waded through a weak five-car Pro Mod field for the win and the points lead for the Championship.
