Chris Juliano walked away from a wild crash in his Mustang on Saturday in the final qualifying session. Racing with Chip King, Juliano got sideways and the rear of his car swung across the centerline, taking out the 660-foot timing block. Then the car slowly rolled on its roof and hit the right wall. The car went back across the track and slid along the wall on its roof, stopping beyond the finish line.

Steve Matusek’s Camaro got the first-round win over Khalid alBalooshi, who clicked off before reaching the finish line. In the next round Matusek’s 6.003/245.18 could not overcome Rahaim’s 5.903 at 246.44.

Von Smith ran 5.887/244.43 to defeat Michael Biehle’s 5.890/250.74 in the first round but fell to Glidden in the next round, 5.941/243.77 to Glidden’s 5.891/250.37.
