Jason Line drive the blue Summit car while Greg Anderson is in the red one.

It was yet another all-Team Summit Racing final round as Greg Anderson defeated teammate Jason Line to win the team’s 10th race of the season, the NHRA Summernationals. Both drivers now have five wins apiece.

The victory is Anderson’s fifth in the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing series and his seventh in Englishtown.

Anderson qualified second with a 6.533 second, 212.93 MPH pass. He defeated Charlie Westcott Jr. (6.600/210.70 to 8.839/109.40), Drew Skillman (6.617/210.73 to 6.723/210.73), and Kenny Delco (6.601/211.39, no time recorded for Delco) in the first three rounds of eliminations to reach the final round against Jason Line.

Anderson got the automatic win as Line had a rare redlight foul start. Anderson ran a 6.610/210.93 to Line’s 6.615/211.20.

“This place is without a doubt my favorite race track and has been since day one,” Anderson said. “You just feel great coming in; you come in with all kinds of confidence. The fans here really appreciate Pro Stock and I love racing in front of them. I love coming up here and putting on a great show, and raising that trophy at the end of the day.”

Anderson is currently second in the Pro Stock points standings following Line by 68 points.

Jeg Coughlin Jr.'s first-round victory Sunday was bittersweet. On one hand, it came against Elite Motorsports teammate Erica Enders; on the other hand, it helped propel Coughlin up to eighth in the Pro Stock points standings.

Coughlin trailed Enders on the Christmas Tree by a narrow margin, .008-second, but he more than made that up with a pass of 6.708 seconds at 207.56 mph. Enders' run was 6.812 seconds at 206.70 mph.

Coughlin's day in the Magneti Marelli offered by Mopar/JEGS.com Dodge Dart ended in the next round when Jason Line sped past for the second-round victory.

"We knew one of us was going to prevail and make it into Round 2," Coughlin said of his battle with Enders. "We were able to go up with confidence with some setups. I ran decent down that right lane -- fifth for the session -- but the guys at KB continue to knock it out of the park.”

Multi-time Super Stock champion Charlie Westcott Jr. made his debut in a Ford Pro Stock. He had the misfortune to meet Greg Anderson in the first round.
