Drag racing takes on a new meaning when a racer drags his parachute for 1320' and still goes 200 mph in six seconds on a Top Fuel Harley as Tii Tharpe did here.

NHRA’s announcer Brian Lohnes could not resist sharing with the fans the replay of Tii’s run, delivering a play-by-play as the giant Jumbotron replayed Tii’s pass in front of a sold out audience. There was much applause Tii could not hear in his helmet, but believe me when I tell you, the fans loved it. One thousand-foot horsepower Harley Davidson, hammers-of-hell, would not be held back by a puny parachute: Brian showed the fans in live broadcast how Tii’s front wheel came up on the launch, stayed up past half-track, parachute still trying to slow him. At 1,000 feet the front tire was still in the air, parachute or not, then the front wheel came back to earth and Tii clicked it off after the finish line.

Bobby Malloy, always trying new combinations, and is always in the hunt. His .001 RT in E-1 was no fluke as he's one of the best and most experienced T/F bike pilots in the world.   (Photo (c) 2016 Tom McCarthy, Digital Image Now. All rights reserved.)

Bobby Malloy of Boninfante Friction qualified forth for the event with a 6.46 and he’s paired up with Len Darnell of Vancover, Wash., who made quite the trip to get to this race. Len’s 6.50 in qualifying was a good number for him to get in the show with, but that bike -- just like Bobby’s T/F bike -- has a ton more in it. If either of them find the combination for the prevailing conditions at race time, both of these bikes are capable of six-thirties or better.
