The Hemi Mopar of Wally Krueger.

The semifinalists fueled and returned for round 4. Jim Kroeger overcame a starting line disadvantage to defeat Tom Hoffman when the throttle linkage on his bright red Mopar broke at mid-track. Dennis Spurgeon and Mike Volkart lined up for a heads up 6.50 Index match. Spurgeon’s quicker reaction and 6.54 ET was too much for Volkart’s losing 6.51 effort.

Jim Kroeger

The two finalists quickly returned to settle things on the track. Spurgeon and his big block Dart against Kroeger and his Max Wedge 1964 Dodge. Kroeger left first and had an .08 reaction advantage while Spurgeon chased him down the track. At the finish line, Spurgeon’s win light came on as his .01-over 6.51 won against Kroeger’s 6.99 which was .01 too quick for his Index. As usual in the Victory series, the race was decided by .01 seconds or less.
