FIA Pro Stock Car

Jimmy Alund

Bengt Ljungdahl

Only four cars made the trip (all from Sweden) for the Finals in Pro Stock, with a fifth (Michael Malmgren) electing to stay at home with not enough time following Tierp to sort out some motor issues. With only two rounds of eliminations, Jimmy Ålund was able to secure his tenth championship with his first round win over a redlighting Stefan Ernryd with a 6.5523/211.79, but Bengt Ljungdahl bettered the number for lane choice in the final with a 6.5435/209.96 that closed out Magnus Pettersson’s year. After winning the last round in Tierp, Ljungdahl underlined the threat he will pose to Ålund next season with a back to back trophy round victory overcoming the latter’s holeshot with a 6.5388/210.85 to a 6.6164/209.14 by 20 inches at the stripe.

Despite the runner-up spot at the final race of the year Ålund is understandably upbeat: “I'm proud of what we have accomplished since 2003 when we started running Prostock and I still love racing these cars. 10 Championships is pretty cool to have!”
