Lights Out 8 at South Georgia Motorsports Park

Radials Rule!

Promoter Donald “Duck” Long returned to South Georgia Motorsports Park for the biggest Drag Radial event ever. Headlining the event was the $50,000-to-win Radial vs. The World class. With that kind of money on the line, 48 racers from all over the United States and Canada made their best efforts to qualify and win the 32-car field. Testing began on Tuesday, Feb. 14, with the first qualifying session on Wednesday night. Qualifying continued right up to the first round of Eliminations on Saturday night. Eliminations continued until 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Several racers had new cars, and others brought tried and true machines to the fray. After flying and destroying their car in last fall’s No Mercy event, Stevie “Fast” Jackson and Phil Schuler brought out their new Shadow 2.0 Camaro.

Paolo Giust brought Black Betty, a new blown ’69 Camaro.
