Barry Mitchell’s new racer held the world record for 8 minutes on Saturday night.

Barry Mitchell brought a new supercharged Camaro and entered multiple classes to work out the bugs in the new car. Early on, he looked like the car to beat, with times in the 3.70s in time trials. He would eventually qualify No. 2 and temporarily set the all-time elapsed time record at 3.738, but eight minutes later Stevie Jackson took his new car to the number one spot and new world record at 3.737.

Meanwhile, Mark Woodruff’s turbocharged Corvette ran two passes over 212 miles per hour, eventually setting the record at 212.69 and ended up number five in qualifying.
