After many
years away from drag racing, I have gotten hooked
again. Anyways, what is the purpose of the set
back blower? Seems it would be more effcient on
the top of the engine.

Mike,
Thanks for the question. The setback blowers still remain
on top of the engine, just "set back" a few inches.
I do not claim to be a Top Fuel expert by any means, but I
believe the purpose was to allow a different design of rotor
inside and routing all of the air charge to one end of the
blower which increased efficiency. I don't follow the Fuel
cars much but it must work pretty good!
