More Just Wondering

Just Wondering… Why is it that almost no matter what track you go to, or who sanctions it, on Friday and Saturday and sometimes even on Sunday the lines at the concession stands and toilets are always too long? I know the promoters know how much profit they make off of concessions, so why not really monetize the concession area (not to mention do your fans a service) and don't make them wait in front of a food or beer stand for half an hour while the racing is going on.

Just Wondering… On the same subject, what kind of impression does it make on first-time fans at a major drag track when they have to wait a half-hour or more in line to get an $8.00 beer or hamburger?

Just Wondering… Still on food. Why is it that the same cheeseburger you pay just $5.00 for at the Bakersfield March Meet costs double that at the Winternationals or World Finals?

Just Wondering… Did you know that the fair board at the Pomona fairgrounds, home of the Winternationals and the World Finals, determine the concession and parking prices, not the NHRA? It’s true!

Just Wondering… Am I the only one who noticed that all the new
Ford, GM, and Mopar Funny Car bodies look even more alike this year than in the past? All of the F/C bodies have morphed into a door-stop shape with an F-16 canopy with a pickup truck bed on the back with only the graphics of a  painted-on grill, headlights and tail lights making the cars identifiable as a Mustang, Camaro or Daytona. The current bodies are an abomination and, in my opinion, hurt the class.

Just Wondering… I'm a Ford guy to the bottom of my shoes, even when my hot rods aren't. Having said that, how am I supposed to identify with a "Mustang" that doesn't look like one and is powered by a Chrysler clone engine?

Just Wondering… I just have to keep wondering why we don't have 1,000-foot records for Top Fuel and Funny Car. Can anyone give me a one valid reason not to have those records?

Just Wondering… Can someone explain to me what exactly is a GT or Modified Super Stocker? Aren't those cars more like Gassers or Altereds, and couldn't the Comp class stand a few more entries at most races? Come to think of it, adding more cars to a no-breakout class is better for the fans, right?

Just Wondering… While we are on the subject of Stock and Super Stock, why are the indexes in both eliminators so "soft"? If a racer can't run a second under the index, they’re struggling to qualify in the top half of the field. Adjust the indexes for Pete's sake and return some sanity to the indexes. Somebody please explain!
