I'm not at all surprised by the reactions of Greek fans -- most of whom either weren't born or don't want to accept another reality: that most of the legitimate records of that early era occurred on the Coast, whether set by locals or touring teams. What I can't understand is how a[ny] journalist would let hero worship trump recorded history. Anyone still alive who was actually involved in early-'60s fuel racing is having a good laugh....
...particularly the Greek, who's been milking those full-page 1960 Isky ads for 50 fucking years, bless his heart.
Since all the readers in your letters dept. seem to agree with the editor, I can only assume that my (thus-far-unpublished) letter is the only one that did not, huh?

I think some of you Nostalgia FC lovers took over where the Pro Mod junkies left off! I'll never forget back around '99-'00 the Pro Mod crowd seemed the most arrogant in drag racing! If it don't have doors it doesn't belong on the track, and anything else isn't real drag racing! Seems that attitude has taken over some in the Nostalgia crowd. If it isn't pre-1980, it ain't drag racing!
I'm at the point where I think this sport will forever have fans who somehow think their favorite class is better than anyone else’s!
For the record, I do enjoy both the Pro Mods and the N/FCs, and I have put the March Meet on my racing bucket list!
I guess this means we will see less and less coverage of the NHRA this year since it's not real drag racing!

Joe, let me assure you that we will continue to cover NHRA national events with the frequency and depth that we always have at DRO. After all, as I said in my editorial, it is the elite drag racing series! -- Jeff Burk
