Stop the throttle stop

I respect all the S/G and S/C racers but it’s time to combine them with Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.

Have 64 or 128 cars qualify for a race.

Keep S/ST as an affordable entry class and get rid of the throttle stop.

Change the index?

Don't you think that if it takes from 3/4 to 1.5 seconds under the index to qualify for an NHRA event in Stock and Super Stock that the indices need to be reviewed?

Or are there too many old NHRA regulars (Rampy, Emmons, Coughlins, Candies, etc.) whose toes would be stepped on by a more honest index in these classes?

Just wonderin'.

Turning green, but not with envy

I heard an interesting commercial on the radio this morning while I was working in Las Vegas. A commercial paid for by NASCAR praised the fact that NASCAR is leading the way in "sustainability" and "green initiatives" throughout the motorsports industry. The commercial went on to speak about how their organization has become "carbon neutral" and the planting of tree, etc. I found this interesting since I am trying to understand the motivation for this type of odd advertisement. First and foremost I am guessing they are trying to court sponsors that promote a green agenda or sell green related products. I also feel like there may be a strong motivation to avoid any future negative legislation and/or action propagated by an EPA that is out of control. Whatever the motivation I am guessing that this sort of forward thinking has never been on the minds of those in Glendora, to their own eventual peril.

On the bright side, I have decided to support the EPA in their eventual fight against all motorsports since I am an evil traditionalist and find the reasons NHRA moved to 1000' to be absolutely bogus. If the Greenies get their way we will all be drag racing a Toyota Prius, which will slow us down enough to go back to the 1/4 in the eventual Top Prius class.
