Just Wondering ... With the performance parity in both of NHRA’s nitro classes better than I have seen it in my career, why would the NHRA tech department ever approve any new or improved components the nitro classes? I say this year is the best and closest racing in the history of the sport. Top Fuel and Funny Car qualifying speeds and ET’s indicate the “level playing field” the NHRA has long sought is here, at least for the top 10-12 teams. Races this year are often decided by RT’s and margins of victory are often measured in thousandths of a second. The top 12 qualifiers in Top Fuel at St. Louis were separated by .07. The difference in F/C for the Top 12 was .11. Please don’t “fix it,” gentlemen, by allowing any new and always expensive performance improving parts.

Just Wondering ... Did NHRA president Peter Clifford go all in when he decided the NHRA would spend the tens of millions of dollars to buy, develop, and fund their own TV production company? The NHRA's income tax returns indicate they spent 10-15 million dollars getting their TV shows on the air. Are they now reducing/firing staff and management personnel to try and cover the cost overruns?

Just Wondering ... What is the attraction of Pro Mod racing that causes rich and successful businessmen to spend millions of dollars over the years sponsoring NHRA, ADRL and PDRA series with little or no chance of getting a return on investment?

Just Wondering ... Why are the drag racing premium seats on or behind the starting line when all of the real action and drama in drag racing usually happens the last 300 feet? I think the very best spectator seats in all of drag racing is the finish line grandstands on the pit side of the track at the Texas Motorplex. I’d pay a premium price to sit in those stands if there were seats with backs plus food and adult beverage service.

Just Wondering ... Is the management at Fox Sports laughing all the way to the bank? They only have to get the NHRA broadcast on the Fox or Fox Sports 1 and collect whatever ad revenue they generate on those broadcasts. On the other hand, the NHRA is paying for air time, building a studio and paying for a production company, and probably losing money on the deal.

Just Wondering ... Will the Scruggs family commit to fund the PDRA for another three years? I believe they will. Will the PDRA become more of a Southeast regional Pro Mod Series? I think the answer for that is also yes. Will Mr. Wells of GALOT Racing and GALOT Motorsports Park fame fund the RPM/NHRA Pro Mod series? I think he will, but if he doesn’t the series could be in trouble.

Just Wondering ... Where will Mountain Motor Pro Stocks race next year? Who knows. The ADRL?
