West Coast Classic at Fontana, California

Ryan McClanahan put on a dominating performance at the 4th Annual Silver State West Coast Classic May 25-26 at Auto Club Dragway, going to three Super Pro final rounds and winning twice! McClanahan’s only loss over the weekend came in the final of the $20,000 Super Pro-64 Shootout, when he drew a -.003 red-light to Daniel McClelland, who won with a perfect reaction time.

Friday’s Specialty Fasteners Super Pro $5,000 to win race was won by Henderson, Nev., racer Trey Vetter as his dragster beat the Bakersfield-based ’84 Mustang of Greg Dreher in the final round.

Trevor Hayes ran on his dial to win the Specialty Fasteners $3,000 Pro competition, stopping Stan Deming in the final.

The Friday night Silver State Pro-64 Shootout went to the ’67 Chevelle of Barron Barler, as he ran on his 6.33 dial with a .013 reaction time to defeat the ’66 Fairlane of Rick Reynolds.

Saturday’s Racepak Data Systems Super Pro bracket final paired McClanahan and Marko Perivolaris for a shot at the $10,000 winner’s check. Marko got a .008 better reaction time, but the win light came on for McClanahan’s beautiful dragster, running a 4.852 (4.84 dial) to a losing 8.678 (4.65 dial). In the semifinals, Perivolaris beat Zach Meziere while McClanahan got a bye to the final.

Daniel McClelland

Following the Racepak event, McClanahan and Daniel McClelland squared-off in the final for the lion’s share of the $20,000 Silver State West Coast Classic Super Pro-64 Shootout money. McClelland drove his dad’s ’27 Ford roadster to the win, recording a perfect .000 reaction time against McClanahan, who lost with a -.003 red-light.

In the semifinals, McClanahan defeated Taylor Strange, and McClelland beat James Warden.

The Racepak Data Systems Pro title and $5,000 winner’s check went to Tibor Kadar of Peoria, Ariz., as he ran a perfect 6.550 (6.55 dial) to defeat Kyle Rizzoli, fresh off a Super Stock win at the Fontana NHRA Lucas Oil series event the previous weekend. Tibor had a .010 advantage at the start, and Kyle broke-out by .001 on his 6.04 dial.

Tibor’s perfect light in the semifinals with his ’67 GTO was too much for Henry Roberson’s Mustang, and Rizzoli got a bye into the final.
