AGENT 1320
Reportedly, Del Worsham and Nicky Boninfante, who currently work on Shawn Langdon’s Funny Car, will tune DeJoria’s car with new tuners on Langdon’s Global-sponsored car for next season. [10/09/19]
Dean Marinis made the quickest nitrous-powered run in Pro Mod history on Saturday, Oct. 5, during the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association event at Maryland International Raceway, going 5.572 seconds at 255.19 mph. Marinis’ Camaro is powered by a 959 ci Pat Musi engine. [10/09/19]
The 28th Jim McClure Memorial All-Harley World Finals will be this week, Oct. 11-13, at Rockingham Dragway. Also featured will be the Ray Price Top Fuel Challenge.
Among the riders in competition will be two-time and reigning NHRA Top Fuel Harley champion Tii Tharpe, two-time NHRA and two-time IHRA champ Jay Turner, and two-time IHRA champ Doug Vancil (shown), the defending event champion. [10/09/19]
Cory McClenathan got the win at the inaugural Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park near Phoenix last year. In a Top Fuel vs. Funny Car final, Cory Mac’s dragster left first and ran 4.08 at 301 mph to Jack Wyatt’s 6.72 at 114 mph.
“Cory McClenathan is a big part of the record setting history of Texas Motorplex and the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals,” said Andy Carter, Texas Motorplex General Manager. “We are thrilled he is closing out his amazing career with another race in Ennis. We are honored to recognize him as the first Texas Motorplex Legend award recipient. We will have a special presentation for him during opening ceremonies and he will forever be recognized in the Texas Motorplex Champion’s Club.” [10/09/19]
Word reaches the Agent that Bill Leavitt died on Sept. 25 at age 80. He was best known for his series of “Quickie Two” Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars.
Originally from Michigan, he helped Connie Kalitta to build Motor City Drag Strip in Michigan and worked with Bruce Crower to help develop the Crower Glide. He moved to California in the late 1950s and made the first sub-6.0 Funny Car run in late 1971 at Lions Drag Strip. He moved to Virginia in 1972 and began running on the East Coast match race circuit. [10/09/19]
Sniper EFI Hemi Intakes
Sniper EFI has released Mopar Gen III Race Series Fabricated Intake Manifolds. These manifolds take the original Sniper EFI series to a whole new level. A more than competitive alternative to higher priced sheet-metal-style intakes, their overall 5mm thickness and port runners welded both inside and out easily withstand moderate boost and power-adder increases. They're rock-solid from 2,100 to 8,200 RPM, come in your choice of a black or silver (shown) finish, and feature a 90mm throttle-body dual-mounting pattern, provisions for a MAP sensor, and 1.25-inch billet-aluminum flanges that eliminate sealing issues at the cylinder head.
