NHRA salutes 50 years of Pro Stock at SEMA Show

To help kick off the 50th anniversary of Pro Stock, the annual NHRA Breakfast at the SEMA Show on Thursday brought together five stars of the class. From left, Warren Johnson, Jeg Coughlin Jr., Erica Enders, Greg Anderson, and Herb McCandless told stories and answered questions from the attendees. FOX announcer Brian Lohnes served as panel moderator.

Also at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet introduced the 2020 COPO Camaro John Force Edition. Chevrolet will auction the COPO Camaro John Force Edition at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event in January, with the proceeds going to DonorsChoose.org. It carries a unique “2020COPO-FORCE” identification plaque and is considered a unique build in the COPO Camaro range – not part of the annual production run of 69 COPO Camaro race cars.

“John Force is one of the most legendary drag racers in history – and his legend started with Chevrolet,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports. “We are proud to partner with him on this one-of-a-kind COPO Camaro and are excited to see what it will do on the auction block for charity.”

“This is a great-looking COPO Camaro, and I enjoyed helping design this car,” said Force. “The COPO Camaro is already a formidable car, and hard to beat on the track. But this one is even more special, as it will help support a cause I firmly believe in.”

Additionally, a black-and-silver paint scheme inspired by the John Force Edition is an available option on 2020 COPO Camaros.

Off the Track: Lamborghini goes to the Space Station

On November 2, a Northrop Grumman Antares rocket launched from Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to the International Space Station (ISS), carrying with it a series of sample composite materials produced by Automobili Lamborghini.

The joint research on advanced carbon fiber composite materials was initiated two years ago between Automobili Lamborghini and the Houston Methodist Research Institute. Its aim is to analyze the response of five different composite materials produced by Lamborghini to the extreme stresses induced by the space environment, in view of future applications on the Italian cars and in the medical field.

Say...maybe it IS rocket science!

New Product of the Day

STS Turbocharger

STS Turbo overcomes the challenges of traditional installations by mounting the turbos in the rear of the vehicle in place of the stock mufflers (on some vehicles). With turbos on your street machine instead of mufflers, you can retain stock exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, mid pipes and have a distinctive performance sound that is sure to turn heads. Relocating the turbos to the rear avoids adding additional heat under your hood and you won't have to worry about clearance or interference issues with belts, pulleys, or accessories.
