Sportsman Shine at Pomona

The Sportsman classes and eliminations at Pomona this year was interesting for many reasons including the always close racing variety of cars and the racers who were second generation or raced multiple cars. In Competition Eliminator Jay Payne qualified his NHRA legal Pro Mod blown BAE powered Camaro in the number one position and may have been the first Pro Mod to have ever qualified in the ultra competitive Comp Eliminator class in the number one spot. He also drove his Alky Funny car to the third qualifying spot in Alky Funny. In Alky dragster qualifying Morgan Lucas put his nitro burning AFD on the pole and also qualified his Top Fuel dragster and drove both cars during the event.
