Sikora had been having trouble finding the tune-up on the new SC/EFI Combo but everyone knows that Doug and his crew chief/engine builder, Jason Pettis, were going to figure it out sooner or later. Boles, on the other hand, was slowly picking up each round and was cutting good lights. In the semi-final, Boles got the holeshot on Sikora .031 to .108 but at the finish line Sikora’s team had figured it out, getting around Boles for the win 4.589/162.16 to Boles’ 4.769/153.37.

In a bye run, former TRUE 10.5 Champion/record holder Roger Holder’s "CalTrans" ‘68 Nova recorded his best run of the weekend at 4.802/151/67.

In the final round it was Holder taking the holeshot advantage, .019 to .126. Holder’s crew thought they had enough to hold off the Mustang of Sikora but at the finish line it was Sikora coming from behind and getting around Holder for the Win..4.630/161.29 to Holders losing 4.908/149.15! This was the first 1/8th mile event for OUTLAW 10.5 and Doug Sikora gets the E.T. and MPH Record and the early Points lead, Trophy and $2500 Check!

TRUE 10.5
The track proved to be a challenge for the little 10.5-tire cars up until the final round,

Last season’s Champion Rich Hoyle (shown) was trying a new chassis set-up, but wasn’t having any luck with the new ride height of his ‘63 Nova.
