CONCLUSION

Despite great weather for all three days and a similarly impressive turnout of cars, there is no doubt that a combination of a sagging economy and the “Pink’s All Out” race at the Charlotte zMAX Dragway hurt this race from an attendance point of view.

The race had full fields and alternates in all three professional categories (T/F, P/S and P/M) and had just about the same amount of Sportsman cars the race drew last year. Steve Earwood’s track crew did their usual excellent job. It’s just too bad that two big drag races were held on the same weekend about 70 miles apart from each other. For Earwood and the IHRA’s sake it is a good thing Pinks doesn’t come back to the same track on the same date every year.
