There was also good drag racing delivered by the NPCA group, the Geezer Gassers, and the Nostalgia Super Stocker racers.

The Goodguys association has four drag racing events scheduled for the Midwest this year, two of which are tour stops on the DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge series: this Indy event and the Oct. 16-18 Nostalgia Nationals in Bowling Green, Ky., which is the last race of the Series.

The Indy event featured eight-car Top Fuel and AA/FC fields and, for the first time in the history of the Goodguys’ event, had open qualifying for both fields.

Eight NHRA-legal AA Funny Cars came to the event. Race director Larry Westerfeld personally teched each of the cars to see that they met the NHRA safety and technical specifications. That included weighing each car.
