In Mean Street, Don Baskin won both the Bradenton finals (which was finally run at this race after a delay due to weather) as well the race this weekend in Maple Grove. He had a bye straight to the final where he took out Alan Von Ahnen after a heartbreaking red-light loss.

In the Late Model Hemi Shootout Dan White and his Magnum beat Gene Hatfield and his Challenger in the Hemi Rumble class and Chris Dufresne got the automatic win in his Magnum after Eddie Rosa’s Charger left before the tree activated.

In the nostalgia classes, Doug Duell (shown), who was also racing in the HEMI Shootout in his Challenger, beat Stephanie DeMino who was making her second consecutive final round appearance in Nostalgia Super Stock.

In other HEMI news, Chris Dufresne out of Waldorf, Maryland, took the Heads-Up Hemi crown by taking down Eddie Rosa in the finals. Dufrense was able to push his cool wagon into the 10.20 range.

In Nostalgia Muscle Car, Andy Warren beat John Zombeck in the final but more importantly, beat last year’s champion Ralph Seran in the semis. Warren, who had previously lost to Seran the previous three times they raced, was able to shake the monkey off of his back and take the defending class champ down.

In the index classes, Dan Walleigh bested Joseph Laino in MOpen Comp while Doug Winters won beat Bobby Barrick in the final of Late Model EFI.

In the only “real” street car class in the NMCA, Frank Soldridge (driving Vinny Fiore’s F3 ProCharger-powered Camaro) was able to take the True Street crown by running a 5.61 eighth-mile, three-run average. Does this look like a launch from a low 8-second ride? Rumor has it that this car will be in the 7-second range by the end of this season, even after the 30-mile cruise.
