The second pair out matched the Con-Quest Firebird of Tim Henry (left) against Bret Williamson and his blown ‘55 Chevy. Henry left first and never looked back; his 6.395 at 219.03 was more than enough for Williamson`s lifting 8.24 at 137.09.

Next up would be Rod Burbage from Anderson, Calif., in his ‘58 Corvette up against the yellow ‘02 Cougar of John Mihovetz. Burbage took the starting line advantage and the win with a 6.412/215.31 over Mihovetz`s 8.815 @ 97.33.

The final pair of round 1 matched up the ‘68 Camaro of Allen Bessant and the ‘57 Chevy of Jay Deidrich. Bessant got the starting line advantage but couldn’t hold off Diedrichs’s 7.015/166.72 with his 10.418/90.35.

In the second round, Walker got a competition bye. In the first pair Henry left first with a RT.043 to Ron Burbage’s RT.052 and clicked off a stellar 6.346 at 221.94 to take the win over Burbage’s 11.845 at 85.77 in his spec-Rite Convertor ’58 Corvette.

The final pair were Bluebaugh and the “Evil 57” Chevy of Jay Diedrich. Diedrich left first, .049 to Kelly`s .101, but couldn’t hold off the Monte Carlo. Kelly got the win, 6.775/211.71 to a close 6.973/210.97 for Diedrich.

Walker couldn’t make the call for the semifinal round due to breakage, so Henry advanced and Bluebaush got a bye run.
