Litton made his fifth final round in four tries races by defeating  Canadian Tim Boychuk in the semifinals. Then Cox got a free pass into the finals when his car owner Mitch King was a NS. On the single Cox smoked the Goodyears at mid-track and ran just a 6.027 E.T., giving lane choice to Litton.

In quarterfinal action it was business as usual as all four of the top qualifiers moved on to the next round.

PRO MODIFIED

Who would have ever believed that the combined total Pro Mod entries for two IHRA national events would be 22? But reality is what it is and in 2009 the IHRA is not having any success filling the fields of a class that IHRA invented. At Grand Bend there were 10 entries in Pro Mod but only nine on race day because on Friday Raymond Commisso wrecked yet another Pro Mod.

NHRA star Melanie Troxel continued her change from Top Fuel driver to Pro Mod driver for the R2B2 team she qualified and lost in the first round.

For the third consecutive IHRA event, Ed Hoover and Canadian racer Kenny Lang met in the final round of an IHRA national event, with Ed Hoover (below) winning for the second time in three tries.
