The final round was supposed to be between Chicago driver Mark Worden and Indiana’s Troy Martin. Unfortunately, Martin was unable to answer the call and Worden made a single for the win, a tire shaking 6.39/211.16.

Even though he wasn’t in the finals, Halladay came back and made a single that got him the track record at 6.081 and -- just by a thousandth -- Low ET of the meet.

Chicago Wise Guys Doorslammers

The finals of the Chicago Wise Guys Pro Mod circuit final round.

The Chicago Wise Guys doorslammer circuit has been a fixture at Byron Dragway for 16 years and once again the Pro Mod-style racers didn’t disappoint the large crowd of spectators. Fourteen of the Wise Guys made qualifying laps and usually the quick four cars come back for a two-lap elimination. Due to a lot of issues there just wasn’t time in the day for the usual four-car finale so it was decided to just bring back the quickest two cars to determine the winner.

The quickest four cars were #4 Tom Dwyer (6.81/204.95), #3 Tom Zeboucak (6.73/204.48), #2 Scott Christoffel (6.41/204.00) and low qualifying honors went to Mike Recchia’s blown ’68 Camaro with a 6.33/220+.
