Kim Parker

In the NW BB/FC battle, husband and wife Randy and Kim Parker both advanced to face each other in the semis, and Howland's Corvette would face Royce Taylor's Mustang after they advanced comfortably in the first round. On the RMN/FC side of the event both brothers, Ron and Corey Sekura advanced to the semis, as did Brent Murray in the super cool 'Damn Yankee' '77 Mustang II funny car and Joey Steckler in his very pretty Corvette. Steckler and Sekura ran against each other, but both were on singles as they had byes due to carnage from the day before leaving wallets light and the field a bit short on Sunday. Pro Street proved no different, with a couple of cars unable to make it to the lanes. Dale Moznik had a good run with his El Camino, only to start sliding around at half track, finishing with a heavy head-on into the retaining wall at the finish line. Number one qualifier Yvonne Lucas threw away a bye as the converter bolts sheered on a hard launch and it was over for her. Daryll Stone put away the other Moznik El Camino driven by Roy, Ken Sihota and Dale Pederson both advanced uncontested.

Trevor Lowe finally showed true to form with an easy win in the 6.20s for the big '57 Chevy, and Mark Wolf's bad T-Bird put away Keith Korecki's very pretty '69 Shelby, while an underperforming Trevor Wilms got a lucky bye. In Nitro Harley, John Breckenridge, Damian Cownden, Ron Houniet, Jason Arkinstall, and Mike Pelrine all advanced to the next round with some solid six second passes.

Semifinals in NFC would see some great match ups. The first pair would be Losenko and Sanders; both cars left well, but Todd faulted, leaving Mark Sanders free and clear to complete a sweet 5.96 pass to the finish. The other pair would be a David/Goliath matchup with local favourite Tim Nemeth trying to knock off the Mighty Tim Boychuk. Form books would prevail today, and Roland Leong put another awesome tune up into the Firebird to lay down a 5.74 second pass to dominate this race. So the final was set with the number one and two qualifiers in the final, something that promised a very fun final.
