Randall Reid

With the eight-car field set and a cool 109-degree track temperature, eliminations began with Steve Wiley’s ‘63 Corvette and Randall Reid’s ‘68 Camaro in a pedal fest. Reid’s Camaro lost traction at the starting line and Wiley’s Corvette at 300-foot mark. Reid got back in the throttle but there was not enough track left to get around Wiley, who took the win light.

Next up were Gaylen Smith’s “Hellfish” and David Balwin’s ‘63 Corvette. Gaylen had a late light (.100 versus .057) but both cars were on and off the throttle trying to slide down the track with the “Hellfish” wagging her tail the least for the win.

The next pair were “Mad Man” Frankie Taylor’s Corvette and Jim Brinkerhoff’s Trans Am (which is a rematch from last month’s race at Denton where Brinkerhoff took the win) but the Mad Man came to make a statement and laid down a straight fast and true pass of 3.728 at 198 mph resetting the track ET record that he set in June.
