Two records set at Firebird

The husband and wife team of Mick and Jackie Alley of Eagle, Idaho, celebrated in the winner’s circle taking home wins in both Stock and Super Stock at the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho.

Mick drove his ’69 Camaro to the win in Stock Eliminator and his first ever Lucas Oil divisional win with a 10.225 second pass at 123.55 mph in out running Joe Sorensen, Woodburn, Ore., in his ’69 Camaro.

Jackie picked up where she left off last year taking her second win in as many years beat Tommy Gaynor in her own ’69 Camaro. Jackie went 9.633 seconds at 134.52 mph to Gaynor’s 10.382, 131.06.

Rob Harrison won easily in Comp Eliminator over Alan Ellis and Mike Henderson outran Garth Giroux in Top Dragster. Henderson, Tacoma, Wash., went 7.073 at 184.46 to Giroux, Canyon Creek, Alb., 7.410, 180.54.
In Top Sportsman it was Billings, Mont., racer Jake Neibauer ousting John Whitmore in his ’63 Corvette with a pass of 7.702 seconds at 169.33. Neibauer was not the only driver to take a ’63 Corvette into winner’s circle as Steve Williams, Yorba Linda, Calif., drove his K&N Filters-backed Corvette to the win in Super Gas over Dairld Wurtz.
