In Top Alcohol Dragster Jim Whiteley met Mark Taliaferro for the first time in eliminations. Taliaferro has one prior final round, with no wins. On a holeshot, Whitely notched his 11th national event win 5.358/273.44 to 5.343/263.51. Whiteley took the win by about 13 feet.

The Competition Eliminator final was an upset. David Rampy, the winningest driver ever in the class, went red and pulled over next to the wall, engine dead. He finally got it refired and drove off the track, but they reset the timing system before he got it going. Chase Williams, in his first final round, took the win in his E/A Pontiac GXP with an 8.374 at 115.49 mph.

Larry Stewart, driving a SS/FA Chevy Nova, got the Super Stock win in a double breakout, his 9.749/135.31 only 0.021 under the index while Phil Unruh in an SS/DA Camaro went 0.028 under with a 9.642/138.63. Stewart had gotten a semifinal bye into the final, while Unruh was the beneficiary of a red light by Slate Cummings.

It was double breakouts and red lights in the final two rounds of Stock Eliminator also. Hagen Gary came up on the winning side of a double breakout in the final as his B/SA Chevy Camaro ran 0.010 under at 10.800/121.69 to defeat Jody Simoneaux’s F/SA Chevy II that went 0.017 under at 11.313/113.94.
