D/GAS

An all run 18-car field of D/Gassers were in the first round with the 1941 Studebaker of Rocky Young leading the pack at 10.75. It was three-time champ in this class in D/Gas, Josh Conrad and his trusty Nova from Bakersfield, getting the instant victory when his competition Cameron Howard caught a red light on the starting line.  (Tim Marshall photo)

HOT ROD

Mark Meier, who runs his Vega on a weekly basis at The Strip, cut best time during qualifying in the 29-car Hot Rod field.

But it was fellow Las Vegan Dave Wallis and his ‘68 Cuda (that looks more like an NHRA Stocker than a bracket car) in the final against Covina, California’s Mike Rogers and his ‘65 Mustang. Give this win to the Las Vegas resident at a 9.958/136.90 over Rogers’ 12.47, 105.00 mph.

In 7.0 Pro Richard Phillips ran 7.046 at 177.74 mph to defeat Rich High’s 7.172/188.17.  (Tim Marshall photo)
