Another event, another win and another stretch of the points lead for the Sovereign G2 Buell of 2011 champion-elect Jesper Thiel. However, this didn’t look like a formality after qualifying when Fredrik Fredlund’s PAF Suzuki rocketed to a new track record 7.086/189.19mph to head the list by well over a tenth. Fredlund’s challenge would be fleeting when a fuse popped out before the first round match-up with Thiel’s team mate Rasmus Olesen, leaving the Sovereign team leader to out run Kenneth Vik, Dave Beck and Kalle Lyrén in final with Thiel’s weekend best 7.134 coming in the event runoff against the Veidec rider.

Although he ended up as runner-up to Thiel, the weekend represented a pretty good return for Kalle Lyrén and the Veidec/Lyrén Motorsport Hayabusa that the team debuted a couple of months ago in Sweden. Consistent mid 7.2s over the course of the weekend and elimination wins over Anders Abrahamsson and Rasmus Olesen yielded a sufficient points haul to regain the second spot in the championship that the sophomore rider had left the first event of the year in after a runner-up (to Thiel naturally) finish in Hungary.
