Bobby Langley was another of the Texas legends at this year’s event. He began racing in the mid 1950s, eventually driving a long line of “Scorpion” dragsters. Langley was one of the first touring racers, traveling to a Smokers Meet at Bakersfield in November ’58 then participating in the fabled first March Meet in 1959. He won 16 events running at every Texas drag strip, including five straight Texas Championships at Caddo Mills (1957-61) and a 1964 AHRA World Championship at Green Valley.

Vance Hunt is a name synonymous with Top Fuel racing in the southwest from 1960 to 1971. Based out of Arlington, Texas, this owner/tuner fielded a series of cars that wreaked havoc on the class for more than a decade.

Keeping the event flowing in fine fashion was none other than resident race coordinator Bubba Corzine as the pre-race parade kicked off, showcasing individually each of the machines that would shortly be pounding the pavement on the Texas Raceway eighth mile.
