Al-Anabi racer Mike Castellana in his Reher-Morrison powered nitrous oxide injected 1970 Camaro led all qualifiers with a 5.884/246.89. His qualifying effort was the fifth quickest quarter-mile lap in history and the fastest speed ever for a nitrous assisted Pro Mod.  (Adam Cranmer photo)

Also of note was the qualifying effort by the seldom seen Harold Martin driving a car with a body he designed himself. He ran his all-time best ET of 5.931 at 239.06 mph in his only qualifying run, putting him in the number 2 spot. Unfortunately, his car suffered damage of some sort and was unable to answer the call for the first round of eliminations Saturday night. (Steve Gruenwald photo)

Perennial contender Mike Janis also had an interesting race. He grenaded a motor on Friday and had one of the worst Pro Mod engine fires in recent memory. He literally burned the front end off of his 2013 Camaro.
