Triple Points Brings Out the Racers

The West Coast Hot Rod Association returned to AAA Auto Club Famoso Raceway April 27-28 for the Kings Oil Tools 2013 SUMMERNATIONALS Presented by CP CARRILLO. This was the second event for the Association as well as a double points event for the three Heads-Up classes.
There were over 200 entries including all the WCHRA classes, Pro Slammer Association and Super Eliminator.

The class sponsored by Mickey Thompson Tires and Chris Alston's CHASSISWORKS is the quickest and fastest of the three small tired eighth-mile classes in the WCHRA.

The 2012 Class Champion, Rich Hoyle, made his return to WCHRA taking the LP RACING #1 Qualifier cash with a 4.832 at 150.20 mph followed by Lonnie Patrick, Roger Rydell, Andre Ball, Norman Chang, H&H Racing (Damon Rivetti), Roger Holder, Cole Dow, Mike Orban and Johnny Coleman.

Round 1: Hoyle was to pair up with #10 Coleman, but had engine problems and couldn’t make the call. In the next pair Chang had to leave for business reasons and couldn’t stay Sunday for eliminations, so Rivetti would take the single and advance to round 2. Rydell advanced with a 5.02 at 151 over Cole’s 12.13 at 46 mph. Patrick took the win 0.049, 5.16 at 160 to Dow’s 0.220, 6.25 at 131. In the final pair Holder was away first 0.064 to 0.101, but shortly afterwards Holder spun and had to pedal. Ball took advantage and ran 5.14 at 148 to Holder’s 5.32 at 154 mph.

Rydell 0.94, 5.77 at 149 mph def. Ball 0.95, 9.59 at 49 mph
Rivetti 5.48, 120 mph def. Patrick 6.47, 123 mph
