The ’64 Chevy II of Chris Alston Jr.

Chris Alston Jr. drove a great race, and stopped Hildebrand’s march with a stellar 4.33 clocking in the third round. Dave Singletary from Arizona was moving through the field too, until a weird starting line jump gave Kelly Henry a ticket to the final. 4.39 seconds at 173.05 mph and the title traveled home to Elk Grove, Calif., and the Alston Chassisworks.

In Pro Charger Pro Radial, only one name comes to mind: Bakersfield’s Roger Holder. His 2000 model Camaro just had everyone covered A to Z. The top qualifier marched through the field with solid 6.1 times and finally stopped Winnepeg, Canada driver David Rogers in the final with an off pace 6.65.
Mickey Thompson Wild Street wound down to two Mustangs, with Eric Gustafson from Vernon, Ca. stopping Chris Groves of Albuquerque, NM.

AOS Hot Street went to Michael DeMayo from Butler, Pa., over Bryan Cobbett of Alta Loma, Calif.

Vortech Outlaw 8.5 saw 32 runners take the first round call. Mustangs prevailed again as Albuquerque’s Joe Gallagher won the top prize over Eric Stubbs from Texas.

The popular Edelbrock Super Index event seemed to go on forever, but a young man from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., claimed the win with his orange ’64 Chevelle -- that would be 77-year-old Don McDavitt. Ron Oddo was runner-up.
