Renegade Raceway Doing Things Their Way

Yakima is a Native American word with many different meanings, along with being the name of a Native American nation in Washington State. This area is rich in agriculture with fruit orchards and vegetable farms dotting the rolling hills of central Washington.

Yakima should have one more meaning: “We do things our way.” That seems to be the attitude by not only the racers but also the management at Renegade Raceway. Appropriate name, don’t you think so?

This is a good thing. A very high-energy individual, Derek Snelson, runs the track. He is also a racer who drives jet cars and nitro funny cars.

Snelson’s “Warhawk” jet dragster.

Snelson has also sought to have the racing at Renegade to be as family friendly and as affordable as possible. Ten bucks a person, kids 12 and under free.
