Second quick was Mike Peck of Seattle in his bright red front-motored dragster at 4.37 seconds.

Third was Brent Jones from Stevensville, Montana, in his ex-Pat Austin Olds Achieva flopper at 4.47 seconds.

Rich Bailey from Oregon qualified in the fourth spot in his white dragster.

Visually the most spectacular run of first round came from Alan Hougardy, whose rear engine dragster looked like a big show top fuel car kicking the head gaskets out at about 330 feet with a big flash of fire.

In round, two with her spot in the final secured Sellers decided to sit this round out and see whom she would face.
