TOP FUEL QUALIFYING

The three rounds of Top Fuel qualifying were highlighted by a qualifying war for the number one spot between Jay Turner and Tommy Grimes. Turner came out of the trailer with a 6.332/218 lap that made him number one. Grimes ran in the last pair and recorded a 6.514/229.84 that good for the second spot. In the next round Grimes came up in the next to last pair and ripped off a great 6.329/235.27 (that speed would stand as Top Speed for the class). That made him number-one qualifier bumping Grimes to second. The final qualifying session saw Turner again in the next to last pair step up and run a 6.325/221. That moved him back into the number one ahead of Grimes and gave him Low ET of the event. Grimes was in the last pair and tried to answer but came up just a little slow running a 6.391/230.
