There were nine of the unique Pro Fuelers trying to make the eight-bike field. The class of the field was Johnny Vickers from North Carolina. He led qualifying from the first lap to the last. The next closest qualifier was Janette Thornley, also a North Carolinian, but she was over two-tenths of a second behind Vickers. Both Vickers and Thornley opted not to run in the third and final qualifying session but still held their number one and two qualifying spots.
