Trent Wilson

Trent Wilson matched up with Chris Gulitti in the next pair to pull to the line. Gulitti suffered from traction issues, running 5.20 at 107.58 but got the win as Wilson lit the red light, .3943 RT, while running 4.42 at 159.97 in defeat.

Two nitrous warriors lined up next with Ortiz's Pontiac GXP and Domino's '68 Camaro. Just about dead even at the green Domino pulled away in a flash to get the win running 4.30 at 170.84 as Ortiz had all he could handle as his ride shook and jumped in his lane registering a 9.50 at 57.05. Ortiz said ,"We had some electrical gremlins bite us as the trans brake tried to park the car a few times in the first 100 feet. It was like a bucking bronco."

E.J. Hickl

The last pair of round one had the classic blower vs. nitrous match up. Hickl made it a non-race as he went red with a .3937 reaction time while posting 4.29 at 171.04 as Blomberg's black Firebird ran a smooth 4.38 at 166.24 to advance.
