In the premier FIA Top Fuel Dragster category, the season long championship chase was decided in the opening round of eliminations when low qualifier (at 4.0100/250.78 on a Friday evening blast into the gloom) Anita Mäkelä lost out to fellow Finn Jari Halinen when Mäkelä’s ride slowed just prior to the finish line whilst Halinen rushed to a 4.0287/304.86.

With the championship decided in his favour, Sweden’s Micke (Mikael) Kågered progressed to the final, defeating Stig Neergaard and Liam Jones (the Brit resetting his own Personal Best mark 4.0297 his opening round victory over Duncan Micallef) with runs of 4.0163/277.66 and 4.1603/242.03 respectively from the Bacho Tools Express.
