Round One

Jerry Hicks

Eliminations opened up with Blomberg up against Hicks in the classic nitrous versus blower match up. Blomberg was off the line first and ran another smooth 4.30 @ 166.05 for the win as Hicks went A to B at a slower 4.52 @ 137.91.

Points leader Bob Gulitti

Gulitti staged up next against Eddie Roach. Gulitti was first off the line and again lost traction as Roach cruised to a 4.46 @ 163.22 to 6.65 @ 72.37 win and advanced to the semis.

A match up of Texas Automatic Outlaws heavy hitters came to the line next as the vaunted ’41 blown Willys of Hickl lined up with Domino and his new Musi power plant. At the green Hickl left with a slight advantage but the maroon ’68 Camaro of Domino tracked him down in no time and took the win posting yet another career run of 4.04 @ 180.14 to Hickl’s 4.25 @ 178.86.

Tim Ortiz

The first round came to an end early for points contender Ortiz as at the green the yellow ’68 Camaro again overpowered the track and legged out a 6.06 @ 96.86 as Harry Crane in the other lane showed the power that was hiding up till now running 4.17 @ 174.96 to advance. It was later found that Ortiz yellow Camaro had issues with the suspension that caused the lack of traction, putting him on the trailer along with the man he is chasing in the points battle, Bob Gulitti.
