The Quick 16 Pro feature brought together cars from several categories: A/FD; Pro Comp; Nostalgia F/C; and AA/FA. One of the outstanding Pro Mod entries was the ’68 Camaro of Bruce Micetich. The wild car operates out of nearby Knoxville, Iowa, home of the fasted half-mile dirt speedway in the land.

We were stunned to find Bill Bagshaw running with the Ozark Mountain Super Shifters driving his original ’71 Dodge Challenger! Upon close inspection it was a local racer, Jim Van Zee, who stated “he tried to immolate Bill’s Challenger to a T.” Good Job.

Some of my favorite race cars of all time have been the ’67-69 first generation Camaros. Those who know me are aware that we campaigned a ’68 in Super/Stock and Pro Stock, then finally a ’69 in Pro Stock until 1974. Melvin Puls was at Eddyville with as nice a ’69 as any. He runs the 1/8th mile course in 5.40 secs, at 129 MPH. To do so requires top performance from his 540 cubic inch big block Chevrolet motor. It is a ‘show car which can really run’!
