Nostalgia Cannonball

Steph Milam

Although the top two in the Cannonball (a throwback to the Funny Car wars that were the hallmark of many a Santa Pod summer in the mid-eighties through the early nineties) have already been featured above, the rest included a new European alky altered mark from Steph Milam with a wild 6.1868/228.08 that saw the transformer “She Devil” T sashaying down track and collecting the 1,000-foot blocks before stopping the quarter mile clocks back in her lane.

Unfortunately, this adventure sidelined Milam for the rest of the weekend and Robbie Grabham’s weekend behind the wheel of the 7-second “Freddy’s Revenge” was also a shortened one although the team were happy with a 7.8 second best.

Bob Glassup

Jim Draper

Bob Glassup and Jim Draper would end up contesting third and fourth spot in the Cannonball. Glassup’s Bubblegum NFC Capri is still in shakedown phases and three passes in the mid sevens (a best of 7.4434 and a 7.5356 against Draper) were enough to tie-down that third spot.
