New for 2016, the Slingshot Showdown featured six front-engined diggers, predominately blown alky combinations. Joe Bond in the gorgeous and relatively fresh out of the box Bond Hannis and Osborne’s “Nuthin Fancy” digger early on set the quickest mark by a British built alky slingshot with a 6.6922/209.90 run. Consistently thereafter in the sixes, Bond ended up in a final round with Jon Webster in his show quality “Hephaestus” (now sporting a wheelie bar after heading skywards and knocking out Webster during last year’s Dragstalgia) and belted out another 6, this time a 6.7571/210.82 to handily cover Webster who had slowed from his previous mid sevens to a nine flat.
